Road Trip -2023

I don't think we've ever been so ready to hit the road. In 2022 we tried to go away but just days before leaving Karen came down with Covid and our travel plans crashed. Now for the first time since Alaska in 2017, we have a trip planned.

Planning this trip was not without hiccups. We decided to go and it didn't matter where - just south. Then the cost of hotels ground us to a halt. One night at a run of the mill hotel was nearly $500.00 US. When you add the taxes and exchange, we would be paying $700.00 a night CDN. OK cancel plans and think about September when the prices might go down. (In the end the hotels started to drop their rates considerably. By the middle of May, they averaged $300.00 US and by the time we were ready to leave in June, the averages were $

After moping around for a couple of weeks, one night I was checking some of our favorite motels and discovered that the Chuckwagon Motel in Torrey had not drastically increased its rates. In addition, by booking three nights there was a 25% discount. I quickly proceeded to book three nights right up to the "submit" button. I phoned Karen to confirm the dates. With a big "yes", I hit the button!! We will have a few days hard travel but at 80-90 mph on I-15, it will go fast.

We ended up increasing our stay to four nights and Karen started her search for "roads to explore" around Torrey and Capitol Reef National Park. We will do day trips using Torrey as our home base. The trip might be a short one but so what - we are finally "On the Road Again".
